Committing Your Plans to the Lord

Scripture

“Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
—Proverbs 16:3, KJV

Reflection

A faith-led founder does not develop a vision independently and then ask God to bless it. Instead, every idea, goal, and strategy is placed before the Lord for His examination and direction.

Committing your plans to God means placing them fully into His hands. You invite Him to examine your intentions, correct your direction, establish what came from Him, and remove anything that does not agree with His will. True commitment gives God permission to change the plan entirely.

This kind of surrender requires trust. God may confirm your original idea, but He may also change your audience, refine your offer, delay your launch, remove a partnership, or reveal that your vision should be developed differently. His correction is not rejection. His redirection may protect your business and prepare it to produce lasting fruit.

As a faith-led founder, you are responsible for planning diligently, but those plans must remain surrendered. You can develop a strategy, calculate the cost, and establish goals while still praying, “Lord, if this does not reflect Your will, show me another way.”

Supporting Scripture

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.”
—Psalm 127:1, KJV

“A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.”
—Proverbs 16:9, KJV

Business Application

Write down your current business plans, including:

  • The people you want to serve

  • The problem your business will solve

  • The product or service you may offer

  • The resources you currently possess

  • The resources you still need

  • Your desired timeline

  • Your next possible action

Take your plans into the secret place. Present each part to God and ask Him to confirm, correct, remove, or refine it. Your assignment is not to complete your entire business plan today. It is to commit what you currently understand to the Lord and remain open to His direction.

After praying, choose one plan you can move forward through a small, faithful action.

Journal Prompts

  1. What plans am I currently developing for my business?

  2. Have I surrendered these plans to God, or have I only asked Him to approve them?

  3. Is there any part of my plan I would struggle to let God change?

  4. Am I building from faith or responding to pressure, fear, or comparison?

  5. What correction, confirmation, or direction am I sensing in prayer?

  6. What is one surrendered and practical step I can take today?

Prayer Points for the Secret Place

1. Commit your plans to God

Father, I commit my business and every plan surrounding it into Your hands. Establish what is from You and correct what is not.

Lord, help me release my dependence upon my own ideas and understanding. Teach me to trust Your wisdom above my preferences.

3. Ask God to direct your steps

—Proverbs 16:9, KJV

Direct every step I take with this business. Keep me from moving ahead of You or allowing fear to hold me back.

4. Invite God to correct your plans

Reveal every plan that does not agree with Your counsel. Give me humility to accept correction and courage to change direction.

5. Ask for wisdom

Give me wisdom concerning my audience, services, resources, finances, timing, partnerships, and next steps.

6. Submit your timing

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
—Ecclesiastes 3:1, KJV

Align my plans with Your timing. Deliver me from rushing because of pressure, comparison, impatience, or fear.

7. Ask God to establish the work

“And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us.”
—Psalm 90:17, KJV

Establish the work of my hands. Let this business glorify You, serve people, and produce lasting Kingdom fruit.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, I commit my business and every plan surrounding it to You. I surrender my ideas, timeline, expectations, resources, and desired outcomes into Your hands.

Examine my motives and correct anything that does not agree with Your will. Establish the plans that came from You and remove those that did not. Give me wisdom to plan diligently, humility to receive redirection, and faith to trust Your timing.

Direct my steps as I move forward. Keep me from rushing ahead of You, but do not allow fear to prevent my obedience. Build this business according to Your purpose, and establish the work of my hands for Your glory.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
